Letter: Post-COVID Decline in Mainstream Church Attendance

Nov 7, 2023 | Letters, News

Hello all,

A lot of churches all over the country have been experiencing a decline in  attendance.  There are a variety of reasons for this like some fell out of the habit when COVD hit; people have moved and haven’t found a new church home; still others left because of disagreements with church leadership or with other members; and, some, sadly, left because they were hurt by the church in some way.

Mostly though, it is just due to the fact that many have fallen out of the habit of going and being involved.  I want to encourage everyone to consider the times and all that is going on, not only around the world but also here at home in our own personal lives.

I truly believe that our churches should be overflowing right now!  If there was ever a time in which we needed each other it is now.  We need to gather together to worship with one another, and pray for each other and for all that is going on around us.  I want to encourage you to come… bring your concerns and thanksgivings to God and seek the support of your community of faith.

If you cannot make it and want us to pray for you, please send in your prayer requests and praise reports.  We have prayer teams who are praying.  God bless you and I hope to see everyone on Sunday!

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
