Thank you for visiting the Web Site for Holy Cross Church, Winter Haven, Florida. We are an Episcopal Church that follows Jesus Christ and makes Him known. As an Episcopal Church we are recognized as being part of the world wide Anglican Communion.
God is doing amazing work in and through our Church. Just over ten years ago there were only 32 people at Holy Cross. We did not have young families and children or a youth group. Now, there is a thriving children’s ministry, an energetic youth ministry, and a score of adults of all ages. We are blessed with people in every generation from infants to 90+; people of different races, nationalities, and faith journeys. We have people who are cradle Episcopalian/Anglicans; people from Roman Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Methodist, and other traditions. There are also people who were of no faith background who found their peace with God through Jesus Christ while at Holy Cross.
We see ourselves as Ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20); people who are seeking to build relationship with God and each other in Christ Jesus. It is through these relationships that we mature in our faith and are able to reach out to the world.
At Holy Cross you will discover a willingness to be honest with ourselves, to be non-judgmental even when speaking the truth, and to be welcoming of all those who seek the peace of God. We do so by abiding to the teaching of Christ in the Holy Scriptures and seeking to do His will in our lives.
If you are looking for a place and a people with whom you can be real – even when it feels like sandpaper, where you can openly struggle with your brokenness and find healing, and where you will find encouragement to “fight the good fight of the faith” (1 Timothy 6:12), a people with whom you can worship, serve, grow, and have good fellowship, then Holy Cross welcomes you to our church family.
Our worship is beautiful, orderly, and liturgical. We use the Book of Common Prayer 1979 as our guide. We encourage all to come to know Jesus as Lord and savior. With that in mind, we are socially conscious and seek to serve the community with the love of God through our worship, teachings, and service projects. We believe everyone is worthy of having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and invite you to, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8).
Faithfully, your Pastor and Vicar,
Fr. Deke Miller
